Transformative Inspired Action

As we step into the energy of the First Quarter Moon next week, it's time to take inspired action toward the changes we envisioned during the New Moon. And this New Moon was also a Solar Eclipse, so big changes are happening! The seeds of intention have been planted, and now, under the growing moonlight, we’re encouraged to make choices, commit to our path, and start to move toward our goals with determination. But what happens when resistance and fear show up, blocking our way?

This phase is all about taking tangible steps, assessing where you are, and reacting to the challenges that arise. Let’s explore the spiritual and practical tools that can help us move past resistance and start taking bold action.

Overcoming Resistance and Taking the First Step

Change often brings resistance—whether it’s fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or even fear of success. We’re creatures of habit, so making a leap toward something new can feel daunting (remember the Fool last week?). You might feel the pull to stay where it’s comfortable, even if deep down, you know it’s time to move forward. Here’s where the First Quarter Moon gives us a push: this is the time to commit and act, despite the fear.

Resistance can show up in different ways. If we’re afraid of the unknown, we might be holding on to familiar people or projects long past when we should’ve let them go. If we’re scared of failing, we’re probably so plagued with doubt and maybe even paranoia, that we refuse to try, because what if we fail?

Breaking through these blocks involves a blend of spiritual reflection and practical action. By understanding why resistance is present and reframing it as a guidepost, you can start moving forward.

Saturn’s Influence

Astrologically, Saturn often plays a role in our resistance to change. Known as the planet of discipline, Saturn’s hard aspects—squares and oppositions—can bring up feelings of fear, restriction, and self-doubt. It might feel like everything is harder than it should be, and that’s because Saturn wants us to build something lasting. But this influence isn’t here to stop you; it’s here to test your commitment.

Saturn asks: How badly do you want this?

Instead of seeing these obstacles as roadblocks, try to view them as opportunities to prove your dedication. If fear or doubt is creeping in, recognize it as Saturnian energy challenging you to stay the course. Acknowledge this influence and use it to reinforce your commitment rather than letting it hold you back.

Tarot Guidance

Tarot offers archetypes that can inspire us to move forward with confidence, by meditating on their meaning and presence in our life. Two in particular are helpful when dealing with change, giving different advice based on the nature of the change in your life.

  • The Chariot symbolizes willpower, determination, and the ability to stay in control of your direction, even when external challenges arise. The Chariot is a call to action, urging you to harness your inner strength and confidently take the reins of your journey. When this card appears, it’s a reminder that no matter the obstacles, you have the power to steer yourself forward with purpose. It encourages focus and alignment, telling you that success comes when you commit to your path and move forward with intention.

  • The Wheel of Fortune, on the other hand, represents the cycles of life, change, and the ebb and flow of fortune. This card reminds us that sometimes things are beyond our control, and the tides of change will come, whether we’re ready or not. However, it also brings the message of opportunity—when the Wheel turns, there’s always a chance for growth, evolution, and new beginnings. It encourages us to embrace change, to ride the waves, and to trust the natural cycles that are always in motion.

A Simple Tarot Spread for Embracing Change

  1. What area of my life is ready for forward movement?

  2. What change is coming that I need to embrace?

  3. How can I best align myself with this energy and take action?

Take a moment to reflect on these questions with your tarot deck or journal on the answers. This process can reveal hidden fears and provide clarity on your next move.

Taking a Small, Tangible Step

Once you’ve acknowledged the resistance and gained some spiritual insights, it’s time to take a small, actionable step. This doesn’t need to be a massive leap—sometimes the smallest action can create powerful momentum. If you already know where you’ve been resisting change, start there. However, if nothing comes to mind, here are some ideas for you:

  • Set a 10-Minute Timer: Commit to working on your goal for just 10 minutes. Whether it’s brainstorming ideas, researching a topic, or drafting an email, dedicating a small block of time can help overcome the inertia of not starting at all.

  • Update One Small Thing: Make a tiny update related to your project—whether it’s tweaking your social media bio, organizing files, or saving an inspiring image to your vision board. Small refinements add up over time.

  • Set a Simple Intent: Write an intention for how you want to feel as you move forward with your goal. "I intend to move forward with ease and confidence" can shift your mindset and help overcome inner resistance.

  • Create a ‘Next Step’ List: Write out the next three steps you need to take. Don’t worry about doing them right now—just having them listed out can ease the pressure and give you direction.

The key here is to make the action small enough that it’s not overwhelming but significant enough that it gets you moving in the right direction. Movement is movement, and once you start, it’s easier to keep going!

Questions to ask yourself this week:
How can I take charge of my reactions to change and move forward with confidence? How can I empower myself to create change rather than resist it?

Take this time under the First Quarter Moon to reflect, take action, and trust that every small step you take will lead you closer to your goal. The energy of this moon phase is there to support your forward movement—use it to your advantage.

Next week, we’ll work with a Full Moon meditation to celebrate the changes we’ve embraced in our lives and reflect on where those fears of failure and change might be showing up for us. Let me know how your small step goes, and I’ll see you next week!
