More Than A New Year’s Resolution

Another cycle is beginning, and so closely to the New Year that I couldn’t help make this cycle theme about goals and New Year’s resolutions. A New Moon right before New Year’s is just too perfect to pass up, and I am a devout fan of New Year’s, so I couldn’t be more excited.

As much as I like the time with friends and family that all holiday’s bring, my absolute favorites, no contest, are New Year’s and my birthday. For me, both days are a time for me to reflect on the past year, see how I’ve changed, celebrate my progress, and make plans for the year ahead. Kind of a condensed lunar cycle, if you think about it, doing all that in one day. With a summer birthday falling so perfectly between New Year’s, I’ve loved the opportunity every 6ish months to pause, reflect, realign, and keep going. So now that you understand my love of this holiday, let’s begin!

This week, we’ll explore how to identify our core desires for the year ahead and set our intentions from a place of self-awareness and authenticity. Goal-setting is about understanding the “why” behind your aspirations, not just making a to-do list. When your goals align with your values, they become instinctual, making it easier and more fulfilling to see them through.

Take this time to dream big, but also consider how you want to feel throughout the year. Are you looking for more freedom? Stability? Adventure? By focusing on the emotions and experiences that you want to cultivate, you can clarify what matters most and start laying the groundwork for a year of incredible growth!

Tarot Guidance

The Magician steps forward this week as a reminder of our innate ability to manifest our dreams. It encourages us to recognize the unique tools, skills, and resources we already possess to create the life we desire. Think of the Magician as a guide reminding you that you already have everything you need! All you have to do is focus your energy and believe in your power to create change.

The Ace of Pentacles adds a layer of fresh opportunity, symbolizing a fertile ground for new beginnings. This card invites us to nurture our intentions with care, much like planting a seed in rich soil. Once we have our dreams, we need to build them an environment where they can succeed. What resources, habits, or support systems do you need to cultivate abundance in 2025? Together, these cards invite us to trust in our potential while staying grounded in practical steps forward.

Astrological Influence

The New Moon is an excellent time to reflect on your natal Moon and its house placement. Your Moon reveals your emotional needs and the areas of life where you’re most ready to nurture new beginnings. For example, if your Moon is in the 4th house, your intentions may center on creating a safe and nurturing home environment. If it’s in the 10th house, you might focus on cultivating a career that aligns with your emotional fulfillment.

Use what you know (and can learn) about your Moon to align your annual resolutions with your inner self. Ask yourself: What does my Moon placement reveal about how I can best care for myself emotionally? How can I honor those needs in the goals I set for the year ahead? Grounding your intentions for next year in your inner desires and not just your outer ambitions ensures that you feel good about reaching your goals, and don’t burnout while making your dreams come true.

Questions to ask yourself this week:
What new opportunities or adventures can I embrace in 2025 with courage and trust? How can I nurture creativity and abundance in my life while staying grounded?

As we imagine what 2025 could look like for us, remember that as big as our dreams are, they all start with a tiny step. A new year is full of possibility and potential, and we’re going to make the most of it, together. Come back next week for our action steps on the First Quarter Moon, and have a Happy New Year!
