How I Use Astrology to Run My Business

My AuDHD used to make the administrative part of my business such a struggle. I’ve always described myself as a Type B “flower child” who follows her intuition and heart wherever it led her, and while that can be a beautiful way to navigate the world, it’s not always the most efficient. A few years ago when I was trying to balance all the tasks on my plate, for clients and myself, the one structure that stuck was one based on astrology, my Planetary Planner. Adding a magical, ritualistic element to my weekly schedule made things feel less restrictive and more intentional. As years have past, I’ve built more and more upon that initial foundation, all following the guidance and twinkle of the stars.

This post is a peek behind the curtain at how I use astrology as the foundation for my business systems: from my weekly schedule to launch planning and creative cycles.

Weekly Planning with the Planets

If you’ve already heard me yap about my Planetary Planner, feel free to skip to the next section. But if you didn’t know, wow am I excited to be the one to tell you this: every day of the week is ruled by a planet, each with its own energetic tone. As a way to naturally organize and set intentions for my tasks, I use these correspondences to guide what I focus on each day.

It keeps my workflow balanced, keeps my usually chaotic mind focused, and it helps me make peace with the fact that I can’t do everything every day.

Here’s how I align my business schedule with the planets:

  • Monday — The Moon: The moon rules emotions and intuition, so I take this slower. I check in with my energy, review client messages, and handle low-pressure admin tasks. I’ll often journal or do a tarot spread before planning the rest of the week. For non-business tasks, I do my weekly meal prep with the support of the moon as well, setting intentions for nourishment and success, and have learned so much about food correspondences as part of this process.

  • Tuesday — Mars: The planet of drive and courage. I use this day for taking bold action: reaching out to leads, tackling projects that require assertive energy, or making progress on big goals. This is my day for doing things that scare me!

  • Wednesday — Mercury: The planet of communication and ideas. I write blog and social media posts, update my website, send emails, and handle marketing strategy. It’s a mentally active day, so I channel that energy into clear messaging and connection.

  • Thursday — Jupiter: The planet of growth and abundance. I dedicate this day to big-picture thinking and education: reviewing my long-term goals/strategies, taking online classes, and researching things that interest me. I focus on expanding my knowledge and skills, and keeping my eyes on the horizon. Now that I know there’s a future for me, I want to make it a beautiful one, and this is my day to dream.

  • Friday — Venus: The planet of beauty and creativity. I create content, nurture client relationships, and focus on the artistic and loving aspects of my business. Outside of work, I also focus on self-love and self-care, and sometimes refer to Fridays as my “Strawberry Day”, since the fruit is associated with Venus as well. Strawberries correspond to healing, love, and success, so I start my days with strawberry tea and a strawberry face mask, reciting loving affirmations to myself as I get ready to work. This sets the tone for a day of beautiful creation and connection.

  • Saturday — Saturn: The planet of structure and discipline. I review systems, tidy my digital and physical spaces, and look at what needs better boundaries. I look back on my week and take stock of what worked and what didn’t, setting goals for the week ahead.

  • Sunday — The Sun: A day for renewal, self-expression, and joy. I try not to work on Sundays beyond an occasional social post (cause self-expression!), and instead focus on things that make me happy and renew me. This can be time alone resting or meditating, time with beloved friends playing D&D or chatting about a book we’re reading together, or just recuperating after a hard week. Sundays are when I celebrate what I accomplished the last week and look forward to the opportunity of a new one.

This simple rhythm keeps my energy balanced and makes my week feel purposeful. There’s something grounding about waking up and already knowing what kind of work the day is meant for.

To keep things focused, I have a calendar set up in Notion (because where else?) with short daily reflection prompts based on the planetary focus of each day. These help keep me on track and give me a space to celebrate daily wins without requiring too much energy (which is key for sticking to a system even when your energy dips).

Goal-Setting with the Lunar Cycle

The moon has always been a creative partner in my business, thus the name. I plan projects and goals in alignment with her phases, letting her cycle of growth, fullness, and release shape the way I create.

  • New Moon — Planting Seeds: I set new intentions and goals here. It’s my time to brainstorm offers, outline fresh ideas, or set marketing plans in motion. I like to write a short note in my Notion calendar about what I’m calling in for that cycle.

  • First Quarter — Taking Action: Energy builds here, and I focus on action and experimentation. This is when I launch new content series, reach out to collaborators, or put plans into motion. Whatever goals I set on the New Moon get my focus, as I take steps to reaching it.

  • Full Moon — Reflection & Celebration: On the Full Moon I check my progress, celebrate wins (even the small ones), and reflect on what I’ve learned. I like to look at where the moon is transiting in my birth chart to see what area of my life I should reflect on, then do a tarot reading on what changes need to be made.

  • Last Quarter — Letting Go: I release what isn’t working, outdated strategies, or lingering to-dos. It’s my time for cleanup: clearing out my inbox, simplifying systems, and closing the month gently. I make sure to release what the Full Moon told me wasn’t working, and prepare for a new lunar cycle.

Working this way helps me pace myself. Instead of rushing to get everything done, I let each phase guide me. I set intentions, take action, reflect on my progress, and releasing what’s complete or unnecessary.

Watching the Sky for Retrogrades and Transits

Astrology is something that I’ve been studying with varying degrees of intensity for 8 years now, and it definitely feels like there’s always more to learn. So as I learn, my practices evolve, improve, and expand to fit new knowledge. I’d known a little about Mercury Retrograde for awhile, but a few years ago I was taught that retrogrades aren’t something to be feared, but utilized. They’re a time for reflection and refining, a reminder that failure and struggle can bring even greater success.

The inner planets are the ones we feel the most on a daily level. They move quickly and affect things like our mindset, relationships, and motivation.

  • Mercury Retrograde: Instead of forcing forward motion, I use these periods to review systems, update content, and visit old ideas that are hidden away in my Notion brain dump. It’s a great time for re words — revise, reimagine, reflect.

  • Venus Retrograde: This is a time where I take a look at my client relationships, boundaries, and values. I check in with how my perception of myself is affecting my work (because as a solopreneur, it does) and spend time building my self-worth and making sure my work is still aligned with my values.

  • Mars Retrograde: I give myself permission to slow down. This is a period for healing burnout and realigning with what motivates me, taking stock of where I’ve been putting my energy and whether that’s the right place for me. I also like to look at where I’ve felt frustration and tension, which is especially important to me as a Libra Mars, since I have a tendency to avoid dealing with tension for the sake of keeping the peace.

Outer planets move much more slowly and influence deeper patterns in business, growth, and mindset. Their effects aren’t immediate as they unfold over months, but being aware of them helps me understand what kind of energy is at play behind the scenes.

  • Jupiter Retrograde: Reflection on growth, success, and expansion. I use this time to refine educational content, update digital products, and make sure that I’m investing in my own education properly. Marketing, especially in such a fluid digital age, changes and evolves constantly, so I get to keep learning new things all the time. This retrograde is a time for me to be sure my learning is focused on the right things, and that my long-term goals are still in alignment for me.

  • Saturn Retrograde: Review of structure and responsibility. I check my boundaries, workflows, and commitments to make sure they still serve me. It’s a “systems audit” season, as I do a deep dive of my Notion ecosystem and analyze what’s working and what needs to change. I reflect on my work-life balance and whether I’m taking on too much or too little responsibilities.

  • Uranus Retrograde: Encourages reinvention and internal breakthroughs. This is the time to prepare for and welcome Change. I experiment quietly behind the scenes, test new ideas, and allow myself to innovate without needing to share everything publicly yet. This retrograde is also deeply societal, as I examine my connection to others, my definition of freedom, and the activism integral to my work.

  • Neptune Retrograde: Brings clarity where things have felt foggy. I pay attention to my intuition and ensure my creative vision is grounded. This is a time to see where I might be idealizing or overextending, where I look for the reality in my dreams and the dreams in my reality. Am I doubting my ability to do great things? Am I also being a little delusional about some things? The answer to both are probably yes, so this is my time to sort through what dreams are worth working towards.

  • Pluto Retrograde: Deep transformation work. I reflect on power dynamics in my business: where I’m giving too much, where I need to reclaim confidence, and what outdated identities I’m ready to release. In the way that Uranus retrograde is a slow but powerful examination of change, Pluto retrograde is an even slower and more powerful examination of transformation following release.

I have journals in Notion that I write and reflect in at the beginning and end of each retrograde period, so I have record of the insight I gain from each planet. Especially for longer ones, it’s fun to see what my past self thought I’d learn and compare it to what revelations I actually had.

Integrating Astrology into My Systems

Now that was a lot, and it might sound pretty hectic to keep track of. All the moon phases, retrogrades, days of the week, that’s so much to manage in one system, and while I’ve built it up over years, I’m sure if I showed all these things to the me that was still convinced her perfect planner was out there somewhere, she would’ve run away scared (and gone back to dumping stuff in her Notes app). But a system isn’t good because it’s complex, a system is good because it’s easy and intuitive to use.

That’s why all of these things are organized inside my Cosmic Organization System, my Notion dashboard that merges practical project management with celestial timing.

Here’s how I use it:

  • Set my goals and track them using the journal prompts i repeat for each phase of the moon

  • Add business (and personal) tasks to my calendar with templates that remind me what’s empowered by that day’s planetary ruler

  • Track retrogrades and reflect at the beginning and end to see what I learned and plan accordingly

This system wasn’t a quick fix, and astrology didn’t magically take me from a floaty mess to girlboss-of-the-year. It took time and incremental improvement to find something that worked from me, starting with the basics and building an ecosystem that tracks everything important to me and sets me up for success, even when mental illness saps my energy or life blows up in my face (as it does). This system reminds me that there’s time for everything, just not all at once, and that honoring cosmic timing keeps me grounded and motivated.

Running a Business in Flow

Astrology helps me run my business with both structure and flow. It let’s me be introspective and creative and gives me direction when I’m unsure where to go next.

When I work in alignment with planetary energy, I find that things move more smoothly. My content flows, my systems feel cleaner, and my creativity comes in waves that make sense.

You don’t need to know every transit or aspect to start using astrology for organization. Try choosing one or two rhythms to follow, maybe a weekly planetary schedule or setting goals with the new moon. Build from there, and see what changes when you let your work flow with the stars instead of against them.
